ZULUBEATZ IS ON SIRIUS XM RADIO
Universal Zulu Nation founder Afrika Bambaataa will take rap fans on musical journey through Hip-Hop history with his new XM Satellite radio show Zulu Beatz. The show, which is scheduled to premiere at 10 p.m. April 5 on XM Radio’s The Rhyme-XL Channel 65, will feature Bambaataa as the host, along with co-hosts The Cutman LG and Mickey Bentson aka Mick Benzo. The trio will play a variety of Hip-Hop classics that cover the evolution of the culture and its music. “Zulu Beatz is true school for the people,” Afrika Bambaataa told AllHipHop.com. “If you are tired of hearing the same 10 songs over and over again, then this is the show you don't want to miss." An encore of the first Zulu Beatz broadcast will air at noon on April 9. In addition to founding the legendary Zulu Nation, Bambaataa is noted for being one of the co-founders of Hip-Hop culture. A veteran in the music industry, Bentson has handled the careers of rap veterans Ice-T and Melle Mel as a manager in addition to working with numerous other entertainers. The Cutman Lg, formerly known as DJ Easy LG of Good Combinations Positive K & LG, has blessed us in the early 90s with phenomenal tracks off of the I got a man album, as well as, Brand Nubians All for one album. LGs production was instrumental in sending I Got Man straight to ..1 on the Billboard charts. LG had a love for hip-hop music since the 80s. He received his first turntable at the age of 10 and has been fortunate enough to have hip-hop legends such as Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force, Melle Mel, Kool Herc, Cold Crush Bros, DJ Jazzy-J and Red Alert take him under their wing at a very early age. He was also Hot 97s Tru School at Noon DJ, as well as, a recent guest DJ for Power 105.1. In addition, LG was responsible for the music production of the Voltron Sprite Commercial, which featured Afrika Bambaataa, Fat Joe, Mack 10, Common, and Goodie Mob, as well as, received a Platinum award for the Beavis and Butt-head Experience album with Nile Rogers. Many will remember his production of the Zulu War Chant street anthem. LG has worked with other well-known artist such as: Notorious BIG, Sly and Robbie, Beanie Man, Luciano and Big Daddy Kane. The addition of Bambaataa, Bentson and Cutman LG comes as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ended its investigation into the pending merger of Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio without taking action to block the union.
